The objective is to determine the effectiveness of lidocaine 2% plus triamcinolone by blocking sheet (subcutaneous), compared with 2% lidocaine intravenously in postherpetic neuropathy (PHN) Pain Unit in Hospital Victor Lazarte. Sample: 60 patients (30 per group). Method: sheet blocking treatment (subcutaneous) with 2% lidocaine without epinephrine was applied triamcinolone and lidocaine 2% without intravenous epinephrine. Results and Conclusions: a predominant population of 6372 years old, followed by 73-83 years was obtained. At the beginning of treatment as patients ranged scale a pain level between 9 and 10. The EVA score (analog scale of pain assessment) post therapy shows that administration of lidocaine plus triamcinolone, leading to a 66.7% of patients to a VAS pain level 2 and 33.3% to EVA level 3; while the administration of intravenous lidocaine 2%, leading to a 63.3% of patients to a Level 4 EVA and 26.7% to a level 5. EVA post therapy side effects (sedation, dizziness, metallic taste), shows that in those with more triamcinolone lidocaine are presented in 43.3%; however, the group with intravenous lidocaine 2% are presented in 100%, time to pain reduction in patients with NPH Aguda, was 11 to 20 minutes for the group with more locking lidocaine triamcinolone sheet , in 96.7% of patients in the range of 31 to 40 minutes, for the group with intravenous lidocaine 2% in 80% of patients.
