This research, defined by setting the Risk Management as a strategic system of useful techniques and tools applied within an orderly and systematic process to manage projects with the aim of facilitating the decision making process in regards to usefulness, profitability, quality, and effectiveness of the subject in study: “Methodology for measuring risks in drainage works done by SEDALIB S.A. during 2009-2011,” has been based upon a suitable methodology and an analysis of risk variables. The process of Risk Management begins by identifying the risks and uncertainties as a steady sub-process in all the stages of the works cycle, and is followed by a risk analysis which can be qualitative or quantitative. The “Latin Hypercube Sampling” method stands out among the quantitative analysis methods due to its powerful risk management tool in programming, and thus, in cost reduction, as it will be shown later on. Once the probability, impact and vulnerability are defined in the analysis stage, the response to risks starts to be planned. In case there were threats, the sort of response could transfer, avoid, absorb, or mitigate. Afterwards, the risks are monitored in order to analyze their development, and if, any change in the conditions or circumstances of the project occurs, we move on to the starting point, that is, identifying, and analyzing the risks and their new conditions. Between each sub-process, there is a process of risk register which is the formal way of communication among the involved ones which have important information about the risk management. Finally, the proposal given, which is the result of the research, states that the risk register gets fed by a database to be re-used in future if possible, and at the same time, to provide support to the risk management in the analysis, tracking and monitoring based on a collaborative and updated system. The above methodology is sustained on the use of the “Risk for Project” program, which is an analytical tool to help executives, analysts, and/or others in decision making, by allowing them simulations on model spreadsheets. The resulting prognostics of these simulations help to quantify the most information possible so as to back up smart decisions. The technical records provided me with: the estimates to determine, with the respective measurement and output, the number of days that each consignment lasts, the same which were the data needed for the scheduling of the works whose aim is to locate, classify and interpret the risk variables (assumptions) for their subsequent introduction to the program. Likewise, the indicators will be added (prognostics), which, later, will implement the program and attain the results reflected in graphs which, with the right interpretation, yielded the conclusions that determined the profitability on the project in study. 7
