Objective: To determine if poor postnatal weight gain is a risk factor for retinopathy of prematurity in neonates of gestational age less than or equal to 32 weeks at Hospital Belen. Trujillo. 2010-2014. Material and methods: A retrospective, observational, case-control study. The study population consisted of 162 preterm infants at Hospital Belen of Trujillo who had the selection standards. Results: The association of poor weight gain with the development of retinopathy of prematurity had an OR: 3.64 (IC 95%: 1.76-7.52) p<0,05. Conclusions: Poor postnatal weight gain is a risk factor for retinopathy of prematurity.
