Objetive: To determine the incidence of high viability in tensor fascia lata flap vs local skin flap in patients with trochanteric pressure ulcers Material and Methods: Analitical, observational, experimental, retrospective cohorts study in 44 patients with trochanteric pressure ulcers who were categorized by the type of flap used in their treatment: tensor lata flap and local skin flap. Results: The tensor lata flap showed an incidence of high viability of 96% and the local skin flap, an incidence of 75%. (RR: 1.28) Conclusion: The tensor lata flap had more incidence of high viability than the local skin flap in patients with trochanteric pressure ulcers in a 1.28 to 1 relation. Keywords: Trochanteric pressure ulcers. Tensor fascia lata flap. Local skin flap. High viability.
