The aim of the present study was to compare the distance between the mandibular teeth and the alveolar process in subjects 18 to 40 years old with different skeletal relationships. Materials and Methods: A prospective, transverse, descriptive and observational study was carried out. We analyzed study models and lateral radiographs of 66 subjects (mean age: 22.77, SD: 4.06), 35 women (mean age: 21.58, SD: 3.48) and 31 men (mean age: 23.83, SD: 4.28). The FA-WALA distances were measured using a digital caliper, the skeletal relationship was performed using the ANB angle. The distance comparison was performed using the Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests, considering a significance level of 5%. Results: Statistically significant differences were found in the distances between classes I, II and III at pieces 34, 35, 36, 37 and 47. There were no statistically significant differences between men and women (p> 0.05). According to side, at the level of pieces 36 and 46 left side 2.01, right side 1.77 (p = 0.002), at the level of pieces 37 and 47 left side 2.56 right side 2.42 (p = 0.013). The differences found were around 0.5 mm. According to age, they did not show statistically significant differences (p> 0.05). Conclusion: There are differences regarding the distances between the mandibular teeth and the alveolar process in subjects from 18 to 40 years old with different skeletal relationship at the level of pieces 34, 35, 36, 37 and 47.
