Objective: To determine whether cesarean birth is a factor associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children attending the Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective, case-control study was conducted. The study population consisted of 148 children; Which were divided into two groups: with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or without this disorder; The odds ratio and chi-square test were calculated. Results: There were no significant differences regarding the variables age, gender or origin among children of one or other study group. The frequency of cesarean births in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder was 49%. The frequency of tract vaginal births in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder was 22%. Cesarean birth is a factor associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with an odds ratio of 3.43 which was significant. Conclusions: Caesarean birth is a factor associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children attending the Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
