The fierce competition that exists today in the field of civil construction requires companies belonging to this industry to seek to optimize their processes, achieving the highest possible productivity in the use of resources. Currently one of the most controlled by those responsible for the projects resources is labor, there is a lot of tools and disseminated in order to improve the productivity of this resource (letters balance, measurement methodologies overall level of activity, etc.), however, it neglects the opportunity to improve efficiency in the use of other resources such as materials, equipment or subcontracts. The materials can account for about 30% of the cost of a project and yet, in many cases companies alone make monthly checks the status of their consumption of materials to control the games, which are run by bosses store who devote little or no analysis to the issue of resource productivity. This paper presents the reality of the consumption of materials in two works of Peruvian building, linking the main data found in studies performed in other countries like the UK, USA and Brazil and develops the whole process of improving productivity from data collection, data analysis, through possible interventions to improve processes to final verification thereof. This research focuses on two main objectives, reducing the cost of consumption of materials and reduction of solid waste generated by construction works, so that the decision to take control of significant materials cost accounting was taken to the project (steel and concrete) and involving a clearing generation (mortar, masonry).
