IC95%=1.704-3.592.
Objective: To establish anemia as a factor associated with preterm labor at Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital. Material and Methods: A retrospective, observational analytical study of case-control design was carried out. The sample of the study population consisted of 549 pregnant adolescent patients according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, divided into two groups: 183 patients with preterm labor and 366 controls. Results: The 5proportion of preterm labor was 33.2%. The mean age of cases and controls was 16.34±1.65 y 16.92±1.57 respectively. 57.38% of cases were house keepers and 61.75% of controls worked. Adequate prenatal care recorded 83.06% and 87.7%, respectively. The mean prenatal care was 5.58±1.19 y 6.1±1.39 respectively. The frequency of anemia was 46.45% and 25.96% respectively. Anemia showed chi square value of 23.25, p=0.0000. The OR was 2.47 and 95% CI 1.704-3.592. Mild anemia was identified in 38.25% and 21.86% respectively. Conclusions: Anemia was a risk factor for preterm labor.
