The present study was carried out to determine the prevalence of blackhead in turkeys breeding backyard in the district of Chao and its relation to place of origin, biological indicators and management indicators through the stool examination. For which it was collected and examined 54 fecal samples, from 16 villages sectors, with the direct method with physiological saline solution (PSS) and lugol to identify the presence of the causal agent. The results showed the presence of Histomona meleagridis in 11 turkeys, representing a prevalence of 20.37 % in 7 villages sectors of the 16 studied. El Rosario had the highest percentage of positive cases with 27.30%. Was determined with statistical analysis that the place of origin has partnership with blackhead. The statistical test for biological indicators such as race, color of plumage, sex and age determined that there is no association between these and blackhead. As for management indicators was determined that breeding turkeys with other bird species has a prevalence of 81.82 % of the positive cases , and the type of feed grains represents 54.55 % of the positive. Both are related to blackhead. We conclude that the prevalence of blackhead in the district Chao is higher than other studies, representing a health problem for the meleagriculture in this district.
