Determine if hyponatremia is a prognostic factor related to mortality in community acquired pneumonia at Regional Trujillo Hospital. Methods: Was conduced a analitic, observational, retrospective, cases and controls investigation. The study population was conformed for 201 patients with community acquired pneumonia in order to inclusion and exclusion criteries distributed in 2 groups: with or without death. Results: The frequency of hyponatremia between community acquired pneumonia with and without death were 61% y 33% respectively. Hyponatremia odss ratio related to mortality in community acquired pneumonia were 3.22 (p<0.05). Conclusions: Hyponatremia is a prognostic factor related to mortality in community acquired pneumonia No differences of statistical significance was meeting between groups related to sex, age or procedence.
