The present investigation was to determine the antibacterial effects of the essential oil of Pelargonium hortorum on strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923. This experimental study included a total of 16 repetitions of each concentration 5%, 25%, 50% and 75%. The antibacterial effect was processed using the Kirby Bauer technique. The variance analysis shows that there is a highly significant difference between the different concentrations of the essential oil of Pelargonium hortorum. Found that the essential oil of Pelargonium hortorum has an antibacterial effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 strains, at concentrations 25%, 50% and 75%; and Staphylococcus aureus at all concentrations 5%, 25%, 50% and 75%. The average diameter of the inhibition halos were higher in concentrations of 50 and 75% for Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923.75% for the control group imipenem and vancomycin compared with the concentrations of the essential oil of Pelargonium hortorum were obtained the greatest diameter of inhibition. These results demonstrate that the essential oil of Pelargonium hortorum has antibacterial effect on strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923..
