This research was performed at Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego fields, located in Laredo District, Trujillo, since February until August, 2013. It was assessed two densities (D1: 0.80 x 080 y D2: 0.80 x 1.20 m) and two types of management: with and without cuttings of Solanum mammosum, and also it was studied the insecticide effect of fruit extracts. The experimental units were distributed randomly in the field plots. To assess the main effect of sewing density and cuttings, it was performed the analysis of variance of two factors with one simple per group using the original data of average of plant height, stem width, foliage area, and fruit yield. It was concluded that density factor yielded significant differences on plant height, stem width, foliage area, and fruit yield (P<0.001). Among the treatments without cuttings at low and high densities (D1: 0.80 x 0.80 m) y (D2: 0.80 x 1.20 m) yielded the best results 38 t/ha and 28 t/ha of fresh fruits, respectively compared to treatments with cuttings at the same densities. To evaluate the insecticide effect, it was performed the S. mammosum fruit extracts to prove its efficacy against Prodiplosis longifila larvae on tomatoes and Spodoptera frugiperda larvae on Castor oil leaves using pure extract and dilutions with water at ¾ and ½ under lab conditions. For the first assay, the results show a high efficacy of extracts against 50 P. longifila larvae on tomatoe, reaching 68% mortality and 32% repellence using green fruits, and 74% mortality and 26% de repellence using ripened fruits. For the second assay, it was obtained 20% mortality S. frugiperda larvae at 72 hours after the spraying with pure extract, 15% mortality with dilutions at ¾ with wáter and 5% mortality with ½ dilution with water using ripened fruits of S. mammosum . The results show low efficacy of extracts with dilution with water against S. frugiperda viii larvae. The vegetal extracts affected P. longifila, over 50% mortality, whence against Spodoptera frugiperda larvae there were no acceptable result . In addition, it was performed the preliminary phytochemical analysis of the fruits to determine the types of existent substances, getting alcaloids, steroids, cardiotonics, saponins and tannins. It was concluded that Solanum mammosum is relatively easy to manage under field conditions, and its fruit extracts show a high potential for pest control.
