This research is a descriptive, cross-sectional, was conducted in January 2014 in the service of medicine Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital of Trujillo, in order to raise awareness of the incidence of phlebitis in patients hospitalized with infusion. The sample consisted of 151 patients with infusion in those with the help of a guide the incidence of phlebitis was observed. The reliability of the instrument; was determined with a correlation coefficient of Cronbach alpha 0.744. The research results indicate that 36.4% had phlebitis and 63.4% failed to do so, also the study yielded information on some sub variables such as the time of occurrence of phlebitis as it was found that 13.9% of patients hospitalized with infusion phlebitis had between 48 and 72 hours of inserting the catheter, also according to age was found that 19.2% were older adults by sex and 25.8% were female. We also found that the incidence of phlebitis was higher when the catheter was installed in the back of his left hand reaching 8.6% of hospitalized patients.
