This research aims to determine whether the market share and efficiency are key factors to profitability in the “Caja Municipal de Ahorro y Crédito de Sullana” in the period 2009-2013. The study uses monthly data of profitability, market share and efficiency. The reference used was the study by Bernal and Vergara (2013), for the case of the “Caja Municipal de Ahorro y Crédito de Trujillo”; as theoretical reference the theories of market power and efficiency are considered, referred to in previous studies. The working hypothesis is that factors determining performance of the Municipal Savings and Credit Sullana in the period 2009 - 2013 were market share , measured as the percentage of “Caja Municipal de Ahorro y Crédito de Sullana” regarding “Cajas Municipales de Ahorro y Crédito del Perú” and efficiency , measured through three indicators as administrative costs to direct loans , operating expenses to net interest income and the ratio of deposits to loans ; and its comparison to multiple regression model was applied. Subsequently, the results revealed that the market share related to municipal savings of Peru does not significantly influence the performance of the Caja Sullana. On the other hand the efficiency measured by operating expenses on net interest income significantly influence the profitability of the Caja Sullana, which have an inverse relationship because if they reduce the profitability increases.
