To determine whether nulliparity is a risk factor associated with the development of preeclampsia in pregnant women at the service of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Chiclayo PNP Regional Hospital in the period from July to December 2013. Material and Methods: An analytical case-control study was conducted, the total cases were 40 patients diagnosed with preeclampsia, total controls were 40 without preeclampsia. Patients were treated at the Gynecology and Obstetrics of the PNP Regional Hospital in Chiclayo period July - December 2013. Results: In this study the frequency of preeclampsia in nulliparous pregnant women is 45 %. The relative risk associated with nulliparity in relation to preeclampsia is 2. The incidence of preeclampsia in nulliparous group, in pregnant adolescents (<20 years) and range between 21-34 years of age are (60 and 71 % ) respectively ; relative risk ( 2.8 ). The relative risk associated with nulliparity in relation to mild and severe preeclampsia were 1.8 and 2.4 respectively with statistical significance (p < 0.05). Conclusions: nulliparity is a risk factor associated with the development of preeclampsia in pregnant women ( p < 0.05). In patients under 20 years and between 21 -34 years of age nulliparity was significantly associated with the development of preeclampsia ( p < 0.05). Nulliparity is a risk factor associated with the occurrence of mild and severe preeclampsia ( p < 0.05).
