Determine if base deficit has value to predict mortality in severe acute Panchreatitis at Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital. METHODS: Was conduced a analitic, observational, retrospective, diagnosis test investigation. The study population was conformed for 74 patients with acute severe panchreatitis, inclusion and exclusion criteries distributed in 2 groups: with or without mortality. RESULTS: Sensibility, especificity, positive and negative predictive value to base deficit related to mortality in acute severe panchreatitis were 100%, 90%, 30% and 100% respectively. The averages of base deficit in the group with and without mortality were 6 y 2.5 respectively (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Averages of base deficit are significatively major in death patients than in survivors patients. Base deficit has value to predict mortality in Aevere Acute Panchreatitis.
