In order to determine the relationship between the use of electronic social networks and the choice of contraceptive methods in adolescents at the educational institution San Nicolás, La Libertad- 2020; An analytical relationship-type study was carried out in a sample of 128 students from the 4th and 5th grades of secondary education to whom a validated questionnaire of 18 questions on the use of social networks and contraceptive methods was applied. It was found that the sociodemographic characteristics of adolescents are: age, the average is 16 years, with a standard deviation of 0.76 years and a mode of 15.87 years, 62.5% are female and 37.5. % are male, 52.3% are in the 5th grade of secondary education. The sexual characteristics are: coital relations, the average is 28.13%; and the beginning of coital relations, the average is in 13 and 15 years, with a standard deviation of 1.63 and a mode of 14.27. The type of social network most used by adolescents is: TikTok or Snapchat with 23.4%, the daily use of social networks is 90.63% and the average time they spend per day on social networks is 5 hours 48.4%. The use of contraceptive methods in adolescents 28.13% have used a contraceptive method at some point in their life and 71.88% have never used it. In the present investigation, it was determined that there is a relationship between the use of electronic social networks at a time of use of 5 hours and the choice of contraceptive methods, with a significance (p <0.001); however, no relationship was found between the use of social networks and the choice of contraceptive methods.
