The target of the investigation was to estimate the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in Cavia porcellus intensively farmed in the Virú district, as well as to identify the parasitic species and evaluate the association between the presence of gastrointestinal parasites and the variables reproductive stage and feeding. Feces were collected from 99 pools, 50 puddles of reproduction and 49 rebaby’s of reproduction, chosen randomly. The samples were sent to the Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics Laboratory of the Antenor Orrego Private University and coprological examinations were carried out using spontaneous sedimentation and flotation techniques, and the identification of parasites based on the morphological characteristics of the eggs. The result of the total prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites was 72.73%, corresponding to Eimeria caviae, Passalurus sp., Paraspirodera uncinata, Trichuris sp., Entamoeba sp., with prevalences of 29.3%, 27.2%, 7.01%, 7.01% y 2.0%, respectively. No significant association was found between the presence of gastrointestinal parasites and the variables reproductive stage and feeding
