The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of oral mucositis associated with radiotherapy in patients with squamous cell carcinoma between 2007-2017 of the Regional Institute of Neoplastic Diseases Dr. Luis Pinillos Ganoza Iren Norte. Materials and methods: Through a data collection card information was collected from 98 medical records of patients with squamous cell carcinoma such as: location, histological diagnosis, and degree of differentiation, TNM clinical staging, and number of sessions, duration of the treatment, administered dose (Gy) and classification of oral mucositis according to WHOM. The Mann - Whitney U test was used to compare two groups and the Kruskal - Wallis test was used to compare multiple groups considering a significance level of 0.05. Results: The highest degree of severity of oral mucositis in the lip and retromolar trigone (2%), respectively, was found in grade 3, 2/3 of the tongue (12%) was found in grade 1, 2 and 3, floor of mouth (2%) was found in grade 2, hard palate (4%) was found in grade 4, alveolar ridge / upper gingiva (4%) was found in grade 2 and 4, alveolar ridge / lower gingiva (3%) It was found in grade 3 and 4, and buccal mucosa (3%) was found in grade 0 and 4. Conclusion: The most common localization of oral mucositis occurs in the previous 2/3 of the tongue, however no statistically significant difference was observed between the groups p = 0.386> 0.05.
