Objective: Determine if there is an association between academic stress and gastroesophageal reflux in human medicine students at the Antenor Orrego Private University during 2023. Material and methods: An analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out in which 288 human medicine students were included, according to selection criteria which were divided according to the presence or not of gastroesophageal reflux, the chi square was calculated and the statistician prevalence ratio. Results: No significant differences were observed regarding the variables age, sex, origin, obesity, asthma, inadequate academic performance and tobacco consumption between students with or without gastroesophageal reflux (p>0.05), the frequency of gastroesophageal reflux in students of human medicine with academic stress was 45%, the frequency of gastroesophageal reflux in human medicine students without academic stress was 13%, academic stress is a factor associated with gastroesophageal reflux in human medicine students with a prevalence ratio of 2.94 which was significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: There is an association between academic stress and gastroesophageal reflux in human medicine students at the Antenor Orrego Private University during 2023
