Proyecto Siga Idiomas para la Universidad de Piura (CID) e Instituto Confucio (CO)

Abstract

El presente trabajo de Suficiencia Profesional detalla la actividad profesional que he realizado, como analista y modelador de base datos. Se asumió el reto por encargo de los directores de los Centros de Idiomas de la Universidad de Piura para actualizar su plataforma académica e inscripción por estar desfasadas en tecnología e infraestructura, además de presentar constantes errores y problemas en su funcionamiento y mantenimiento. El principal inconveniente que se presentó durante el proyecto fue el diseñar y unificar un proceso estándar que se adecue para el Centro de Idiomas y el Instituto Confucio, puesto que, cada uno contaba con una problemática peculiar y procesos propios. Es por ello que, para poder realizar distintas las etapas del proyecto que se nos encomendó, tuvimos que recopilar información sobre cómo operaban los procesos de inscripción y otros de ambos centros. Y con el adecuado análisis y procesamiento de toda la información recopilada se usaron herramientas como juicio de expertos, entrevistas con los sponsors y key user, cuestionarios de preguntas y documentación de las entrevistas. Actualmente, CID y CO continúa realizando su proceso de inscripción con apoyo del área de aplicaciones académicas que pertenece a Tecnología de la Información (TI). Su actual plataforma web cuenta con una estructura y tecnología desfasada, con más de diez años de antigüedad, la cual ya no tiene soporte tecnológico en la actualidad. Dada la necesidad, se planteó unificar, estandarizar y optimizar el proceso de inscripción de CID y CO abarcando desde el proceso de la oferta académica hasta la matrícula de alumnos. Los resultados que se obtengan y se procesen nos ayudarán a identificar las características y reglas de negocio propias de CID y CO para hacerlas configurables a través de una plataforma web

The present work on Professional Sufficiency, where I detail the professional activity he carried out, as an analyst and base data modeler. The challenge was considered by the directors of the Language Centers of the University of Piura to update their academic platform and registration because they are outdated in technology and infrastructure, in addition to presenting constant errors and problems in their operation and maintenance. The main problem that arose during the project was the design and unification of a standard process that is suitable for the Language Center and the Confucius Institute, since each one had its own peculiar problems and processes. That is why, in order to carry out the different stages of the project that was entrusted to us, we had to collect information on how the registration and other processes of both centers operated. And with the proper analysis and processing of all the information collected, tools such as expert judgment, interviews with sponsors and key users, question questionnaires and documentation of the interviews were used. Currently, CID and CO continues to carry out its registration process with the support of the academic applications area that belongs to Information Technology (IT). Its current web platform has an outdated structure and technology, more than ten years old, which no longer has technological support today. Given the need, it was proposed to unify, standardize and optimize the CID and CO registration process to include everything from the academic offer process to student enrollment. The results obtained and processed will help us identify the characteristics and business rules of CID and CO to make them configurable through a web platform.
