To determine whether personal, sociocultural and institutional factors are associated with the abandonment of contraceptive methods in adolescent women. Materials and Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted in the Family Planning Service of the District Hospital 'El Esfuerzo' of Florencia de Mora in the province of Trujillo, during the period between December 2019 and December 2022, during which 116 adolescent women were interviewed and a questionnaire was applied. Results: The prevalence of contraceptive method abandonment was 74.14%. It was observed that sentimental status (no partner: 52.33% vs 33.33%, p = 0.002), number of children (0 vs 0.23 ± 0.50; p = 0.001) and number of abortions (0 vs 0.30 ± 0.70; p = 0.001), were associated with contraceptive method abandonment, likewise, poor quality of care (54,65% vs 26,67%; p = 0.008) were also associated with contraceptive method abandonment.... Conclusions: A contraceptive method abandonment prevalence of 74.14% was found; the factors associated with contraceptive abandonment were family influence, partner influence, and poor quality of care.
