Laparoscopic cholecystectomy or ““colelap““ is a surgical procedure that consists of removing the gallbladder, for which it is necessary to occlude the cystic duct and the artery. For this, materials such as black silk and polymer clips with Hem-o-lok locking mechanism are used. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the intracorporeal knot compared to Hem-o-lok polymer clips in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Material and methods: An analytical, retrospective cohort study was carried out in which 204 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy were included, according to selection criteria, which were divided according to the use of intracorporeal knot or Hem-o-lok polymer clips, the chi square and the relative risk statistic were calculated. Results: No significant differences were found for the variables age and sex between patients exposed to laparoscopic cholecystectomy with intracorporeal knot compared with polymer clips (p>0.05), the operating time of patients exposed to laparoscopic cholecystectomy with intracorporeal knot was significantly longer compared with users of polymer clips (p<0.05); no significant differences were found for the average hospital stay among patients exposed to laparoscopic cholecystectomy with intracorporeal knot compared with polymer clips (p>0.05), no significant differences were found regarding the frequency of operative complications among patients exposed to laparoscopic cholecystectomy with intracorporeal knot compared with polymer clips (p>0.05). Conclusion: No differences were found in the effectiveness of the intracorporeal knot compared to Hem-o-lok polymer clips in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
