To determine if hypercholesterolemia is associated with impaired renal function in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease at Sullana Hospital, Piura - 2023. Materials and methods: The research was based on a non-experimental approach, involving an observational and case-control analytical process, with a study population comprising 252 patients from Sullana Support Hospital. Secondary sources, specifically medical records, were utilized to collect the necessary data. Regarding the statistical analysis, a detailed description of the data and records for each variable was conducted using SPSS Version 26 software. To assess the relationship between the variables of interest, the ““Odds Ratio““ method was employed. This method quantifies the association between exposure to a variable and the outcome of interest, evaluating the likelihood of such an outcome occurring. Results: Among a group of 252 patients, it was observed that the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia was 48.8% in those with impaired renal function, while in those without this alteration, it was 28.0%. These results suggest a significant association between the presence of hypercholesterolemia and impaired renal function in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Conclusions: An association has been identified between hypercholesterolemia and impaired renal function in patients from the Internal Medicine Department at Sullana Hospital, Piura, during the year 2023.
