Introduction: Mortality in patients with septic shock is related to comorbidities and hospital management so available and reliable prognostic markers are needed to guide early intervention to ensure effective treatment and improve patient survival. Aim: To determine if eosinopenia is a predictor of mortality in patients with septic shock at Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Materials and methods:A retrospective analytical cohort study was carried out with 186 patients diagnosed with septic shock between the years 2020 - 2021 at the Belén de Trujillo Hospital. Patients were divided into exposed and unexposed groups based on the presence of eosinopenia. The relative risk of mortality according to eosinopenia was calculated and related with the intervening variables. Results:Of 186 patients, 93 exposed patients were registered, of whom 75 (80.6%) died, and 93 non-exposed patients, of whom 25 (26.9%) died. The relative risk of mortality according to eosinopenia was 3 (95% CI 2.11-4.26 p <0.001). In the Poisson regression analysis, it was found that the intervening variables associated with mortality were delayed vasopressors (p<0.014), hyperlactatemia (p<0.004) and eosinopenia (p<0.0001). Conclusion: Eosinopenia is a predictor of mortality in patients with septic shock at Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
