Objective: To determine, in patients diagnosed with cancer at Hospital III - EsSalud José Cayetano Heredia, Piura; the relationship between alcohol use disorders, demographic factors and the specific type of cancer. Method: The present study is of a prospective type of primary information source; being directed to the analysis of oncological patients treated by the Clinical Oncology service of the Cayetano Heredia hospital in Piura during the months of August and September 2018. To obtain such a result, data processing was applied using the test of chi square in the SPSS platform. Results: The presence of alcohol use disorders (AUD) was confirmed in 81.37% of the studied population. Likewise, a relationship was found between eating disorders and age (x2=11.181, p=0.011), where the group with the highest prevalence is found in the age group of 50 to 59 years -38.7% of the mentioned group-, while the highest risk is that of 18-39 years (OR = 3.615, p = 0.020). Regarding the sex (x2=6.216, p=0.013) of the patients, its presence in the male sex stands out (46.2% of the male population), despite being a protective factor against AUD (OR = 3.65, p=0.005). The only type of cancer found to be relatedto AUDs is breast cancer (OR=0.161, p=0.021). Conclusions: The alcohol consumption disorders in oncologic patients are related to the age and sex of the patients
