OBJECTIVE. To study if there is an association between between Urolithiasis and Chronic Metabolic Diseases in adult patients treated at Santa Rosa Hospital during the years 2015 - 2017. MATERIAL AND METHODS. An observational, analytical, cross-sectional, retrospective, case and control design study was carried out. A total of 118 patients with urolithiasis treated over a period of three years were studied, historical histories that have the legible record of the variables studied (age, sex, chronic metabolic diseases, family history of chronic metabolic disease and time of onset of the same). Univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis was performed by Poisson regression analysis. RESULTS. It was found that the main chronic metabolic diseases present in the patients studied were arterial hypertension (71.18%) and obesity (73.72%), with an average onset of 4.8 and 5.55 years, respectively. In the multivariate analysis, an association was found with obesity (OR: 1.89; 95% CI: 1.36 - 2.62; p <0.001) and the family history of chronic metabolic disease (OR: 1.49; 95% CI: 1.03 - 2.15; p <0.001). CONCLUSIONS. The identification of the close relationship between chronic and metabolic diseases and the development of urolithiasis should be followed as a guide to develop preventive strategies in order to improve management in this type of patients.
