To report the effectiveness of treatment with Cyclo G6 compared to Ahmed's valve implant in reducing IOP in patients with refractory glaucoma at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology. Material and methods: A retrospective cohort study was carried out in which 52 patients diagnosed with glaucoma were included, according to selection criteria, which were divided into 2 groups: patients exposed to Cyclo G6 or Ahmed's valve implant; applying the relative risk, and the statistical chi square test. Results: The frequency of postoperative complications was significantly higher in the group exposed to valve implantation compared to the group exposed to the CYCLO G6 technique (p <0.05); the effectiveness of Cyclo G6 was significantly higher compared to the Ahmed valve implant in controlling intraocular pressure in refractory glaucoma; the effectiveness of Cyclo G6 was significantly higher compared to the Ahmed valve implant in improving visual acuity in refractory glaucoma; the average reduction in intraocular pressure in the group exposed to the CYCLO G6 technique was significantly lower than the average in the group exposed to Ahmed valve implantation (p <0.05). Conclusion: The effectiveness of the treatment with Cyclo G6 is greater than the effectiveness of the Ahmed valve implant in reducing IOP in patients with refractory glaucoma at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology.
