The purpose of this thesis is to apply the PCI method to determine the Pavement Condition Index on Avenida América Oeste, in the city of Trujillo, in order to identify the existing faults in the 5 km that make up the highway, (2.5 km. On each side) to then evaluate and quantify the condition of the road. The road problem that occurs in the city of Trujillo is a consequence, among others, of the ravages caused by the El Niño Phenomenon 2017, by which, due to the intense rains that occurred, and the overflow of the waters of the San Ildefonzo, El León and San Carlos streams, the tracks were devastated and among them América Oeste avenue. The work of this thesis begins by mentioning the most common failures that affect flexible urban pavements. Then, the method to evaluate the failures, the sampling of the different chosen sectors (sample units) and finally the calculation of the PCI will be explained. Likewise, the failure record sheets will be presented, with the respective calculation of the Pavement Condition Index, for each sample unit (chosen sector) analyzed. Finally, the condition of the pavement of the Avenida América Oeste in the city of Trujillo will be established and the best solution will be recommended, according to the detected faults, in order to restore the road to its optimal state of walkability
