Objective: To find the relationship between sociodemographic variables (sex, age, degree of parental education, place of residence, access to drinking water and health systems), finally laboratories (isolated pathogen and CRP) with severity in UTI in patients Pediatric Material and methods: a retrospective case-control study was conducted, which included 124 patients, consisting of 62 cases and 62 controls of the pediatric department of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Cajamarca. Measurements: The Odds Ratio of each sociodemographic and laboratory variable was calculated. Results: The sociodemographic variables that were found to be associated with severity in UTI in the pediatric population were: the degree of instruction of the parents (OR 4.00 and p <0.05), the place of residence (OR 3.00 and p <0.005), access to the system of home health (OR 4 and p <0.05) were; however, sex (OR 1.20 and p> 0.05), age (OR 1.00 and p> 0.05) and access to drinking water (OR: 2.29; p> 0.05) were not associated by the value of OR the value of p. Finally, both isolated pathogenic laboratory variables (OR 2.00 and p <0.05) and PCR (OR 5 and p <0.05) if they are associated with severity in UTI. Conclusions: it was found that of the 8 variables in total 5 are associated with severity in UTI; of 6 sociodemographic variables, only 3 were associated, while the 2 laboratory variables both were associated with severity in UTI.
