The objective of this quasi-experimental research with a completely randomized design was to determine the in vitro effect of the aqueous extract of Chenopodium quinoa ““quinoa““ on the motility and viability of Tetrapygus niger ““sea urchin““ spermatozoa. For the experiment, 6 sea urchin sperm samples were used, which were divided into 2 groups (3 for motility and 3 for viability). Each sample was collected in a beaker and then diluted with sterile sea water to observe the effect of the extract at three concentrations: 50%, 75% and 100% at different times: 20 seconds, 3 minutes and 5 minutes, likewise for each concentration a pre-inoculation basal of the extract was obtained, for the readings a broad spectrum microscope was used at 40x. As a result, it was obtained that: Chenopodium quinoa extract at a concentration of 50% and 75% decreases sperm mobility and viability; immobility and total mortality is evidenced with a concentration of 100% (p=0.000<0.01). It is concluded that the aqueous extract of Chenopodium quinoa at 100% immobilizes and leads to total mortality of Tetrapygus niger spermatozoa.
