OBJECTIVE: To determine which clinical factors: age, gender, obesity, distribution, hardness and size of kidney stones influence the presence of stone residue after percutaneous nephrolithotripsy in patients with staghorn stone. MATERIAL AND METHOD: An observational, comparative study of cases and retrospective controls was carried out. The medical records of 135 patients admitted to the Urology service, who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotripsy for staghorn lithiasis at the Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in Trujillo from March 2018 to 2023, were reviewed. A bivariate analysis was performed, then with the clinical factors that resulted statistically significant, multivariate analysis was performed. RESULTS: 135 patients were included, the average age of patients with lithiasic residues was 55 and the group free of kidney stones was 48. The clinical factors obesity, size and hardness of the kidney stone are significant in the bivariate analysis, however, they leave to be so in the multivariate analysis, therefore, age and the distribution of the kidney stone are those that influence the presence of lithiasic residues CONCLUSION: The clinical factors that influence the presence of stone remains are age and distribution of the kidney stone
