The objective of the present investigation was to determine the epidemiological, obstetric, clinical and bacterial characteristics of pyelonephritis in pregnant women in the Hospital Belén de Trujillo 2016 - 2017; for which a simple descriptive study was carried out in 51 clinical histories, the data collection was carried out in a file. The epidemiological characteristics of pyelonephritis in pregnant women was: average age 23.9 years, 56.9% had complete high school education, cohabiting civil status 72.6%, marginal urban origin 47.1%, housewife occupation 88.2%, no family history 92.2 % and 47% of pregnant women have prenatal care. The obstetric characteristics were: 52% Nulíparas, 45% presented complications during week 13-28 of pregnancy and 45% in week 29-40 of gestation. 55% had no obstetric history and 29% of pregnant women with pyelonephritis reported abortion as an obstetric history. The clinical characteristics of pyelonephritis in pregnant women were: fever 51%, nausea and vomiting 47%, frequency 39%, dysuria 39% and lumbar pain 24%. 80% of pregnant women were admitted for emergency and 98% were positive in their urinalysis. The average hospital stay was 6 days. The most frequent type of uropathogen found was Escherichia coli 90.32%, followed by Klebsiella oxytoca 3.92%, Klebsiella pneumoniase 3.92%, Staphylococcus epidermidis 1.96%. The patterns of sensitivity and resistance was; Sensitivity to: Tigecycline 100%, Amikacin 97.9%, Imipenem 97.7%, Meropenem 97.5% and Ertapenem 95.2%, Nitrofurantoin 82.6% and resistance to: Ampicillin 83.7%, Trimet / Sulfa 61.7% and Ciprofloxacin 50%.
