Preeclampsia is a frequent medical disorder that affects the pregnancy process, its etiology is not completely defined. Objective: Determine if chocolate consumption during pregnancy is a protective factor regarding the development of pre-eclampsia. Methods: Systematic review of cohort, case and control articles, descriptive cross-sectional studies, as well as randomized controlled studies (RCTs) of 5 databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Ovid, Cochrane Library), extract information, assess risk of bias (Software Revman 5.3). The RR is used to determine the incidence rate of the RF in the observational follow-up RR. Results: Chocolate consumption in the first and third trimesters periodically the risk of preeclampsia RR = 0.60 and a 95% CI (0.04-0.09), based on an I2 of 75% affirming the high heterogeneous distribution, with presence of variability in the effect of the intervention. Conclusions: Chocolate consumption in more than one serving weekly during pregnancy acts as a protective factor with respect to the development of pre eclampsia, reducing the risk by 0.6 times. Results with a significance level of p = 0.05.
