The present study determined the relationship between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Temporomandibular Disorders in patients treated in the service of Rheumatology of the Regional Docente’s Hospital of Trujillo - 2018. Material and method: The research work was cross-sectional, observational and descriptive, where 274 patients were evaluated of wich 97 of them accomplish with the inclusion criteria and then they were divided and evaluated into two groups: patients with and without Rheumatoid Arthritis (study group and control group, respectively) applying to both groups the Index of Helkimo modified by Maglione. This Index covers the criteria of limitation in the range of mandibular movement, alterations in joint function, pain in movement, muscle pain and pain in the temporomandibular joint. Results: It was observed that the relationship of the TMD in the patients with RA was highly significant (0.029 <0.05). With what corresponds to age, the relation of both diseases were present in the age group of 56-65 years was found; and in relation to gender, there were not found relationship between them, but it was found in a higher percentage in females. Conclusions: There is a relationship between RA and TTM, according to age a relationship was found presenting in the age group of 56 to 65 years of age, no relationship were found according to gender, but being present in a greater percentage in females. The impact generated by this study will be reflect in the use of information that can be used when diagnosing and treating these diseases in the public health sector, being able to establish new criteria and parameters to be taken into account by health professionals.
