The main objective of this thesis is to elaborate the proposal of a reservoir by means of a gravity dam in the river “La Cuesta“ for water use in periods of low water. The following research of applied type in a non-experimental design of descriptive type, for which use was made of data collected by national sources such as SENAMHI, FAO, Municipality of the district and through the use of software: ARCGIS, CIVIL 3D, AUTOCAD and with the Methods: GUMBEL METHOD; MASS CURVE METHOD; LOG PEARSON TYPE III METHOD; CHRISTIANSEN METHOD; MAXIMUM RATIONAL FLOW METHOD, AVH METHOD and finally BERNOULLI METHOD we found as a result that the maximum flood flow in the “La Cuesta“ River is 50. 35 m3/s in a return period of 20 years, taking into account that the area destined to agriculture within the district of La Cuesta is 13. 56 hectares, the average flow for water use in crop irrigation is 5.16 m3/s corresponding to the year 2016, the volume of the reservoir is 0.71MMC in relation to the dead volume, 5.95 MMC in relation to the useful volume and 6.66MMC in relation to the total volume, reservoir area corresponds to a value 861,890 m2 i.e. 86. 18 hectares, maximum elevation is 1907 m.s.n.m. at operation level, spillway height is 1.40 m and an outlet of 0.60 m. diameter, crown length of 260.58 m, height of the dam located at the maximum point with a value of 35 m. which would result in an ideal proposal for a reservoir by means of a gravity dam.
