Individuals with high cognitive anxiety worries suffer from suicidal thoughts and may attempt to consummate the ideation to stop the increase in stress. According to the interpersonal-psychological approach to suicide, the association between social anxiety concerns and suicide are sustained by the lack of belonging trait Objective: To determine if anxiety is a factor associated with suicidality in students of a medical school. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 92 medical students of the last cycles distributed in two groups: with or without suicidality; applying the chi square statistic and calculating elodds ratio. Results: There were no differences for age, gender, origin or obesity among medical students with or without suicidality (p> 0.05). The frequency of anxiety in suicidal university students was 84%. The frequency of anxiety in university students without suicidality was 38%. Anxiety is a factor associated with suicidality in university students OR = 8.6 (p <0.05). Conclusions: Anxiety is a factor associated with suicidality in students of a medical school.
