OBJECTIVES: To determine whether the presence of non-alcoholic fatty liver is associated with dyslipidemia in obese children aged 10 to 17 years. MATERIAL AND METHODS: At the Hospital Lazarte de Trujillo ESSALUD, 95 obese adolescents were studied using a cross-sectional analytical design with an OR = (95% CI) p = 0.00. The OR of dyslipidemia due to EHGNA was 1,467 divided into 2 groups, with dyslipidemia (cases) and without dyslipidemia (controls). RESULTS: 95 obese adolescents were studied 53% women. between 10 and 17 years of age, average 14.77±1.5, IMC 27.5±1.5 kg/m2. the prevalence of dyslipidemia was 70.5%. The prevalence of fatty liver was 32% /25% in groups with and without dyslipidemia. The prevalence of fatty liver was 70.5%. Average levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol and triglycerides were higher in the group of patients with HDGNA, and lower levels in HDL cholesterol. The mean difference was significant in triglycerides p=0.024. The EHGNA increases the risk of non-significant dyslipidemia p=0.308, the adjusted OR of dyslipidemia by EHGNA according to age, sex and severity of obesity, the OR is 2.82 (0.69-11.5) p=0.148. The lower age is protective of the risk of dyslipidemia by EHGNA (OR0.67 IC: 0-46-0.98) p=0.039. CONCLUSIONS: The presence of EHGNA is not associated with dyslipidemia in obese adolescents.
