Objective: Determine if hypoalbuminemia is a prognostic factor for mortality in patients with steatohepatitis associated with metabolic dysfunction in patients from the Piura region. Materials and methods: Observational, analytical, retrospective study with secondary data collection through the use of medical records and data sheet collection; t tests were used to compare normally distributed continuous data and Mann-Whitney tests for non-normally distributed data were used to use significance p<0.05. Results: The study included a total of 200 patients, observing that patients with hypoalbuminemia presented a significantly higher relative risk of mortality (RR 5.67 95% CI 3.76-6.35, p = 0.03) compared to those without this condition. As well as it increased with reference to the variables of age over 45 years, (RR 4.21 95% CI 3.11-4.53, p = 0.04), type 2 diabetes mellitus (RR 2.51 95% CI 2.13-3.45, p = 0.03) and hypertransaminasemia (RR 4.56 95% CI 3.87-5.12, p = 0.03). In relation to sex, a higher prevalence of hypoproteinemia was observed among male patients (34.5%) (p = 0.03). Conclusions: Hypoalbuminemia is associated with mortality in steatohepatitis associated with metabolic dysfunction in hospitalized patients in Piura 2020
