Objective: To assess whether non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis is an associated factor for gallstones in adult patients. Material and Methods: A transverse cut study was carried out, evaluating a total of 372 adult patients in the General Surgery Service of the Surgery Department of the Belén de Trujillo Hospital during the period April - August 2019. Results: Bivariate analysis of clinical variables identified age (51.64 17.33 vs 48.06 16.34), BMI both as a quantitative variable (27.95 4.13 vs 26.06 3.49 kg/m2) and when categorizing it (obesity rate 32.80% vs 13.98%), hyperlipidemia (45.70% vs 33.87%) and hepatic steatosis (64.52% vs 49.46%) as factors associated with vesicular lithiasis. Multivariate analysis found that non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis (ORa = 1.90 95% CI [1.25-2.88], p = 0.003) and age (ORa = 1.014 95% CI [1.001-1.026], p = 0.033) were associated with the presence of gallstones. Conclusion: The presence of NASH increases the risk of developing gallstones almost twice.
