The main objective of this research was to analyze the incidence of the financial system in the economic growth of Peru, during the period 2000 to 2020. The financial system in Peru evidenced a process of adaptation and improvements in its reforms, this was reflected in the growth of the average annual rate of loans (11.44%) and deposits (10.92%). For its part, GDP showed a growing behavior between 2000 and 2008 and a slow expansion from 2009 due to the international financial crisis and other internal problems. For the compilation of information, the databases of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP), the Superintendency of Banking and Insurance (SBS) and the National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI) were used. Quarterly data were used for greater data availability. Finally, through the application of an econometric model, a positive correlation was found between the deepening of the financial system (loans as a ratio of GDP) and the economic growth of Peru, which is in line with the results of other investigations.
