Peru is one of the countries with the highest rates of business informality within Latin America, this leads to a high degree of tax evasion. The economic activity that takes place in informal conditions creates barriers for the growth of entrepreneurs. The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of tax informality on business growth of merchants in the Indo-American Santo Dominguito market in the city of Trujillo, a supply center made up of 164 merchants between formal and informal. This study was of a non-experimental design and of a correlational-causal cross-sectional section. There was a sample of 145 merchants, and the data collection instrument was the questionnaire. Likewise, to determine the impact of informality on business growth, the Spearman correlation coefficient was used, which determined that tax informality has a negative impact on business growth of the merchants studied, since the Rho obtained was -0.923. Among the main causes of informality, it is attributed to the perception of merchants regarding taxation, since they consider that paying tax is an expense, likewise, bureaucratic procedures and distrust in the tax system are barriers to business formalization
