The present research aims to reduce the costs of inventories generated in the warehouses of the bodywork company Factoría Bruce S.A., applying the model of optimal quantity of order based on the Plan of Material Requirements. The material requirements planning system is based on an adequate planning of all the materials, supplies and components that are needed for the manufacture of a bus at the Bruce factory; obtaining in this way the optimal quantity of order, in such a way that the number of stocks in storage and therefore the cost of inventory is reduced. The study began by identifying and classifying the products according to the demand through the collection of information, through documentary analysis and applying techniques such as direct observation; This classification was made through the ABC analysis allowing the selection of the THUNDER URBANUSS 915 product, due to its higher demand. Then, an analysis, evaluation and selection of the best forecasting model was made using statistical errors: MAD, ESM and MAPE, in order to project the demand for the year 2019; in such a way that with the master plan of production, the list of materials and inventory registry; the material requirement planning system was designed for the entire year; which allowed to determine the period and the quantity of materials necessary for the production batches, avoiding the accumulation of stock in the warehouse and thus reducing the costs incurred in it. Finally, the optimal order quantity of materials was determined, reducing total inventory costs of S /. 640,356.6 to S /. 545,319.1, obtaining savings of S /. 95,037.5, which is equivalent to 14.8% with respect to the previous year, which justifies the proposal of the Materials Requirement Plan.
