The study was carried out with the aim of determining differences in stress coping styles among psychology and civil engineering students at a private university in Trujillo. The sample consisted of 121 psychology students and 231 civil engineering students from the first to the tenth cycle. A substantive type of research with a comparative descriptive design was chosen. The instrument used was the review of the COPE Questionnaire, by Carver y Connor (2010), which consists of 52 items grouped into three indicators: coping styles focused on the problem, focused on emotion and other additional styles. From the results it is determined that in civil engineering the predominant style is the problem-focused style with 50.6%, and in psychology the predominant style is the problem-focused style with 52.1%. In addition, when comparing both samples according to the indicators, it is determined that there are highly significant differences in problem- focused coping styles (W=26796; Z=-16.06; p=.000), emotion-focused coping styles (W =26796; Z=-15.99; p=.000) and other additional styles (W=7643; Z=-15.14; p=.000) among civil engineering and psychology students.
