In this present research work called “GEOLOGICAL - GEOTECHNICAL EVALUATION OF THE FOUNDATION AREA WHERE 10 PONTOONS WILL BE BUILT OVER DRAIN 13.08 LOCALITIES OF CASTILLA AND SECHURA –PIURA REGION”, where we seek to determine the geotechnical and mechanical properties of the route of drain 13.08, necessary to define the type and conditions of the terrain, as well as to also carry out investigations using DPLs (Light Penetration equipment) in order to determine the load-bearing parameters and know the admissible capacity for the construction of ten Pontoons, distributed throughout this hydraulic structure. During the development of this investigation, four stages were carried out: Compilation of information through preliminary study documents and specialized bibliography, exploration of each pontoon (with 10 DPL tests and the same number of excavations with heavy machinery), in addition to soil sampling. In addition, the geological-geotechnical reconnaissance was carried out, complemented by the soil mechanics laboratory and the office phase that consisted of interpreting the results obtained with the use of software for the preparation of maps and plans and finally the writing. of the Final report. (DPL) method was used, adjusting to the technical standards and allowing us to know the subsoil cutting parameters for the ten pontoons, reaching a depth of 3.00 m and to carry out the geotechnical profile and carry out the sampling, excavation was done with type heavy machinery (420 E backhoe). The samples were taken to the laboratory where they were analyzed and indicated that the soil formed along the route of the drain is type of poorly graded sands (SP), silty sands (SM), compact inorganic clay (CL) and clayey sands (SC). From the final results it is explained that pontoons 1 to 9 will be improved with a granular layer of overlay having obtained critical results of values less than 2kg/cm2 and settlements greater than 2.54 cm and pontoon 10 is founded on untreated diatomite rock.
