Every day, in the city of Trujillo, it is observed that the traffic problem had increased; it is getting longer to move from one place to another, due to the traffic congestion in different streets of the city. Currently, to carry out traffic studies in the city, factors of equivalent vehicles used in other cities are used. The aim of this research work is to determine the factors of equivalent vehicles for the city of Trujillo, for which the avenues that present the greatest congestion in the city were identified, being the following: Av. Esp. cuadra 14. Av. Esp. cuadra 27, Av. América Norte, Av. América Sur. Jr. Unión, Av. Perú, Av. 28 de Julio. Av. Mansiche, Av. Roma y Av. Los Incas; then, vehicular gauging was carried out during rush hours within working days, obtaining that the vehicle composition is given by a 69% cars followed by 12% van, 9% microbuses, 5% motorcycles, 4% trucks, 1% lorry and 0% Omnibus. A point velocity study was carried out in which a reliability level of 95.5%, an average standard deviation of 8.0 km/h and an allowed error of 1.5 km/h. To determine the factor of equivalent vehicles, the effective space that is a function of the simple spacing and the lane width was calculated. Once the effective space was calculated, a regression analysis was performed on the speed and effective space. For the generation of the equivalent vehicle factor, the equations obtained in the regression analysis for each type of vehicle are related to the equation obtained for cars, which are a function of the speed of the vehicle to be converted. The factors of equivalent vehicles found are: for cars 1, van 1.14 and microbuses 1.39, which differ from factors that are used in other cities of the country.
