To determine if there are differences between knowledge and attitudes about breast cancer prevention in adolescents from the coast and the highlands, Piura, 2020. Methods: a cross-sectional, analytical, observational study was design in 528 adolescents. The survey was previously validated by experts and through a pilot test (Cronbach's Alpha: 0.93 for knowledge and 0.95 for attitudes). Statistical analysis was performed in STATA v15. Results: The level of knowledge was found to be approved in 32.2% for general knowledge, 48.86% for knowledge about risk factors and 50% for knowledge about breast cancer detection. In general, knowledge about breast cancer prevention was approved by 50.76%. The attitude towards the prevention of breast cancer was adequate in 44.13%, the attitudes towards breast self-examination were adequate in 47.35%, while for risk factors it was inadequate in 36.93%. It was found that, the higher the level of knowledge the adequate attitude about breast cancer prevention increased from 23% to 27%. Conclusions: It was found that higher levels of knowledge about breast cancer prevention was associated with a higher prevalence of adequate attitude towards breast cancer prevention among the adolescents.
