To compare the validity of the pediatric appendicitis score with respect to the Lintula score for the diagnosis and ruling out of acute appendicitis in the pediatric population. Material and methods: A sectional retrospective study of diagnostic tests was carried out in which 134 pediatric patients with suspected acute appendicitis were included, according to selection criteria, which were divided into 2 groups: with or without acute appendicitis; calculating the area under the curve of the PAS and Lintula scales. Results: No significant differences were observed for the variables age, gender or medication use between pediatric patients with or without acute appendicitis (p>0.05), sensitivity, specificity, negative and positive predictive value of the PAS scale for the diagnosis of pediatric appendicitis. it was 96%; 69%; 92% and 87% respectively, the diagnostic accuracy of the PAS scale for the diagnosis of pediatric appendicitis was 90%, corresponding to a high accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, negative and positive predictive value of the Lintula scale for the diagnosis of pediatric appendicitis. it was 97%; 82%; 93% and 91% respectively, the diagnostic accuracy of the Lintula scale for the diagnosis of pediatric appendicitis was 93%, corresponding to a high accuracy. Conclusion: The Lintula score and the pediatric appendicitis score are valid for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in the pediatric population; however, a slight superiority is shown by the first mentioned scale (1%
