Objective: Determine if SARS COV2 infection is a risk factor for preeclampsia at the Virgen de la Puerta High Complexity Hospital during the 2022-2023 period. Methodology: A retrospective case-control observational analytical study was carried out, all pregnant women with preeclampsia who met the inclusion criteria were included (62 patients) and 3 controls were assigned per case (186 patients without preeclampsia), with a total of 248 pregnant women. Data were collected on: SARS COV2 infection, maternal age, parity, prenatal control, origin, level of education, marital status, pre-gestational obesity, clinic clasification and trimester of Covid-19 infection. Results: There was a statistically significant association between SARS COV2 infection and preeclampsia (OR: 3.14, p value=0.001). Regarding the characteristics of pregnant women with and without preeclampsia, the majority of pregnant women were <35 years old (56.5% and 55.9%, respectively), were multiparous (77.4% and 92.5%, respectively), and were of urban origin (93.5% and 97.8%, respectively). respectively), had completed basic education (91.9% and 96.2% respectively), were married or cohabiting (87.1% and 93.5% respectively) and did not have pre-gestational obesity (69.4% and 79.6%, respectively). Regarding prenatal controls, 64.5% of pregnant women with preeclampsia had suboptimal prenatal control (<6) and in the group without preeclampsia (79%) they had optimal prenatal control (>=6). In the majority of pregnant women with preeclampsia, SARS COV2 infection occurred in the III Trimester (47.1%); and; in pregnant women without preeclampsia, in the I trimester (55%). In both groups, symptomatic SARS COV2 infection predominated, 82.4% in patients with preeclampsia and 85% in pregnant women without preeclampsia. 100% of symptomatic cases were mild. Conclusion: SARS COV2 infection is a risk factor for preeclampsia in the Virgen de la Puerta High Complexity Hospital during the 2022-2023 period
