Objective: To identify factors associated with non-adherence to iron medication in the age group under 5 years of the El Indio 2020 health center. Methodology: Analytical, observational, non-experimental cross-sectional study. The population consisted of the caregivers of children from 4 months to 5 years who attended the growth and development control at the I-3 El Indio Health Center with a diagnosis of anemia on treatment with iron in the period comprised in the months of December 2020 to February 2021. The sample was of 277 caregivers surveyed, the same that was calculated in EPIDAT 4.1. Results: The factors significantly associated (P value <0.05) with non-adherence to treatment, in children from 4 months to 5 years of the El Indio health center, are the degree of education (without higher education) and the knowledge of the time that treatment lasts (wrong); Regarding the level of education, the study reports an OR = 4.122 (CI: 1.14 - 14.9); Likewise, the results indicate that caregivers who do not know how long the treatment lasts, reach an OR = 6.46 (CI: 2.10 - 19.9), showing that this group of caregivers shows a possibility of more than 6 times of driving children to non-adherence. Conclusion: It was found that factors associated with non-adherence to iron mediation in children from 4 months to 5 years of the El Indio Health Center with a diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia were: the degree of education (no higher level) and the incorrect knowledge of the duration of the treatment.
